The 63rd Street Growth Commission is an independent entity that operates under the auspices of Greater Southwest Development Corporation (GSDC). GSDC is a non-profit community development corporation with a 36-year history of actively contributing to commercial revitalization in Southwest Chicago. The 63rd Street Growth Commission is guided by a dedicated group of local business people who form its Board of Commissioners. Members of the Board of Commissioners are appointed by the Mayor following confirmation by Chicago’s City Council. Their relationships within the business community bring the visions and concerns of local business directly into the governing body of the Growth Commission. 

The Board convenes monthly to discuss the district’s needs and determine how the Growth Commission’s strategic direction can best support retail growth. Business owners and residents are welcome to attend Board Meetings to learn more about the Growth Commission’s initiatives, offer insights, and voice concerns.
