Street Performers and Musicians Entertain 63rd Street Holiday Shoppers

December 2009 – Chicago, IL. What do 77 different performances add to the holiday shopping experience? A lot!

For four weeks starting in November and continuing through the third week in December, the 63rd Street Growth Commission hosted five entertaining events each day, six days per week, throughout the 63rd Street business district.

With a diverse representation of street performers, bands, and vocalists, the events themselves appealed to both young and old. While interactive street performers moved along 63rd Street engaging shoppers in their entertaining antics, musicians and vocalists set up in local businesses, including Marquette Bank, Subway, Walgreen's, Sears, and the Rio Valley grocery store. All performers also handed out candy donated by Greater Southwest Development Corporation and local businesses to children.

The results of the Holiday Festival were nothing short of amazing. Surveys submitted to the 63rd Street Growth Commission gave the 2009 Holiday Festival a resounding 9.5 out of 10. Not bad for the first time out!

Four weeks. Six days per week. Five different locations each day. When you do the math that adds up to A LOT of holiday spirit!
