Marketing Initiatives

Cooperation is key to success

During 2007, nearly 100 business owners took the time to contribute their feedback and help guide the 63rd Street Growth Commission’s marketing initiatives.

The Growth Commission analyzed this input and used it to develop a series of marketing initiatives designed to activate the area’s business potential.

Low Cost Advertising

Advertising is a necessary tool for contemporary business. Although there are many options – TV, radio, magazines, billboards, and the internet to name a few – many businesses simply can’t afford the heavy advertising costs set by changing market dynamics.

The 63rd Street Growth Commission recently launched a low-cost advertising campaign that allows businesses to advertise through several of Chicago’s publications at a much lower rate. By sharing ad space, business owners are lowering costs and gaining exposure. Interested in seeing the results? Click here for a sample of a recent newspaper ad insert (pdf format).

Branding Initiative

A comprehensive marketing strategy – including marketing collateral, shopping discounts, and special events – is creating a distinctive image that differentiates the 63rd Street district from the competition.

Music on the Street

This series of art and music cultural events held along 63rd Street during summer months creates a festive atmosphere and draws people to the area. When people visit, they often shop, and the results to date are nothing short of impressive. If you’re interested in hosting an event – or if you have an idea for an upcoming musician or artist – please contact us.

Masterminds Project

No one knows our commercial district like the people who operate the businesses here, and this special project acknowledges that wealth of information by inviting stakeholders to attend monthly brainstorming sessions. Meetings focus on generating ideas and launching initiatives that encourage and support business growth in the 63rd Street district. We encourage business owners who are interested in providing feedback to contact us.

63rd Street Holiday Parade

This event is an “oldie but goodie” and has been an annual tradition for more than two decades. Each year, the 63rd Street Holiday Parade attracts over 25,000 spectators. In addition to generating exposure for our area’s retail business, it makes good sense to invite people to our area to enjoy a day of family fun.
